Les Camades

TASTING NOTES: Les Camades is the most classic Priorat expression of Torroja. It is a red wine aged in terracotta jars and French oak barrels. The wine is cherry red in colour with bluish edges. Aromatically, at first, it shows notes of black and red fruit, such as blackberries, wild strawberries, black plum, etc. It is followed by aromatic herbs of the region, such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, etc., and sweet spices. It combines delicate spicy notes with a strong mineral expression. The wine is fresh and round on the palate, with a mature tenacity that fills the mouth, making it meaty and juicy. The acidity guides you towards the long finish. Overall the wine creates an impression of freshness and warmth like a midsummer escapade.

Les Camades is a wine made from several estates surrounding the village of Torroja del Priorat. The unique terrain is composed of brown slate soils combined with clay-limestone and alluvium. The vines, planted about thirty years ago, are cultivated using sustainable agriculture practices. Organic certification is in process.

Wine production

Spontaneous fermentation occurs in small food-grade plastic tanks of 500 l. Maceration continues for eight to fourteen days. The must is then pressed to finish fermentation. The wine is aged in 500 l terracotta jars and 225 l French oak barrels for fourteen months.
