The Valencia Protected Designation of Origin Wine Regulatory Council, set up in 1957, brings together a total of 13,000 hectares of vineyards throughout the four sub-areas over which its territorial demarcation extends (Alto Turia, Moscatel, Valentino, and Clariano), with registered winegrowers nearby.

Its average annual production is over 650,000 hectoliters of wine made from different grape varieties, some of them native, and it has a total of 93 wineries, more than half of which are bottlers. Its producing sector is grouped in 85 percent in cooperatives.

The wines protected under the Valencia Denomination of Origin must be made with grapes from the respective production areas and authorized varieties, and within the framework of an adequate technique that allows them to achieve their peculiar organoleptic characteristics and controlled by the Regulatory Council. through its inspector services and tasting committee.

The Protected Designation of Origin Valencia is an open, dynamic denomination, with a great vocation and export tradition. Currently, its wines are present in nearly 100 countries around the world, with sales of more than 46 million bottles.
